While out walking recently a thought came to me that we often don’t actually notice our surroundings.
We’re often so busy with our internal monologue, churning thoughts over in our mind or on our phone or in conversation that we don’t actually pay attention to or notice our surroundings. A great way of being mindful and slowing down the internal chatter is to actually concentrate and really take notice of what’s around us. Look at the details of nearby buildings, their materials, the architecture. See the people around us. Notice the landscape, the different textures, the movement of the trees or grass, the shape of the clouds in the sky.
Enjoy being where we are now, not where the worries and distractions are in our mind.
